Social Networking - How it works

shoemissy.comWhen ShoeMissy.com began, I really didn’t know my arse from my elbow when it came to online networking. In fact I hardly knew my way around a computer to be honest. However Facebook and in particular Myspace have been crucial for ShoeMissy’s success, and for those of you who need a bit of clarity, here’s a short explanation about the different networks.

Facebook: A site for you and your REAL friends. It dissuades you from befriending strangers, so to network you need to be a bit clever. I created a fan group for ShoeMissy and asked my REAL friends to invite theirs, and so it grew.

Myspace:  Much more ANONYMOUS. It’s all about your profile page, pictures and good links to your website. I met two of my very good wholesale customers here. After a lot of befriending at the beginning you can sit back and let people find you.

IQONS: Very much like Myspace but just for the Fashion Pack. Good for finding stylists or people who want to borrow and promote your stock.

Blogging: A Diary or Gazette of your business is an easy way to boost your Google ratings and increase your traffic. Most blog systems are free, i.e. Blogger or Vox.

I find these a fun, inexpensive (and addictive!) way of promoting ShoeMissy, also the most direct as people are already online when you find them.

I enjoy helping people with their online promotion, as I know how mystifying it can be, so please email me for jargon-free advice at sales@shoemissy.com. Have a go at Googling ShoeMissy to see the results!
