Looking towards next Spring the bold colours and patterns from the 1980’s are still in fashion with an emphasis on the shoulders and powerful designs.
At Pure this August we heard about next season’s trends and the continuing use of bold patterns such as geometric and abstract patterns using acid colours like lemon, lime, orange and pink. There are still some animal print and oriental patterns in kimono shapes. One of the other key shapes is the lantern worn over leggings or drainpipes.
Softer looks include draping chiffon and silks in pastel nudes, grey, putty, seal and dove grey.
Nautical looks with a different twist using paired stripes and ‘boyish’ cuts. Biker jackets and exposed zips are still in vogue with black still a key trend. Cropped military jackets and waist length jackets in cotton or nylon mixes.
Trousers are big in the Spring season in a variety of shapes – some tailored and soft, harem pants are still popular and other dropped crotch styles. All-in-ones in silk mixes and cottons were also seen on the catwalk.
Eveningwear gets longer and daywear dresses are above the knee. Skirts move to mid calf and are softer, layered with lots of bright colours.
The country look has been back in fashion and in particular brands like Barbour and Hunter ‘wellies’ have appeared in the shops, mostly driven by the outdoor festival market. Brogues and loafers are also back in fashion, as well as moccasin style boots.
Leather has made a big comeback with biker jacket styles and the more glamorous leather dresses. The black leather skirt is back in a variety of shapes.
